Come share a glass of wine with us, and enjoy a lovely and inspiring series of Russian readings. November's event features

Mother Russia

You'd be hard pressed to find a soul who hasn't heard the names;Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, Chekhov, and Gogol. What about the women? Russia is home to some of the most innovative, daring and complex female writers anywhere in the world. Mother Russiais a celebration of all things written by the intrepid Russian woman. Members of THE SEAGULL PROJECT and our community will bring to our audience Alla Akhmatova, Russia's most celebrated female poet. Additionally the works of contemporary playwrights Olga Mukhina, Alexandra Chichkanova, and Yaroslava Pulinovich will be heard aloud. Join us for a special evening of Russian works by women and curated by SEAGULL PROJECT ensemble member Hannah Victoria Franklin.

The lives of ten unforgettable characters unfold before our eyes in Anton Chekhov's first great play. The playwright weaves together strands of hopeless love and artistic paralysis; but from these unlikely sources emerge glimpses of tenderness and brilliant humor, building to a climax that at once fulfills and defies expectation.

The Seagull Project is about process. By working together for nine months, the company is taking the time to create a vibrant and committed ensemble,  inspiring humorous, nuanced and spontaneous performances. Directed by the celebrated John Langs, with designs by an award winning team of artists, The Seagull Project is dedicated to the full and passionate exploration of Chekhov's great play.
