Running Time: 2 hours, 0 minutes

Broadway Bound Children’s Theatre, in association with ACT, will present Tony award winner Jason Robert Brown's coming-of-age musical, 13.

13 earned the L.A. Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Production and Best Musical Score for its world premiere production at Center Theatre Group/The Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles in 2007. It subsequently opened on Broadway in 2008 featuring the only all-teenage cast to ever be on Broadway. The Broadway Bound cast, like the Broadway company, will be comprised of all teens.

Broadway Bound’s June 2011 production of 13 was a high mark for the organization after 15 years of shows. Because of the overwhelming positive reaction to this production, the cast and creative team has reassembled for a very special return engagement, in a collaborative effort with ACT.

13 is a grown-up story about growing up. Evan Goldman has it all — he's popular, has the perfect family and lives in the greatest city in the world — New York. That is until his parents get divorced and he's forced to move with his Mom… to Indiana. Uprooted from his old life, he has to make new friends and somehow maneuver his way through the minefield of junior high school to become part of the “in-crowd” in time for the celebration of his Bar Mitzvah. With an unforgettable rock score, 13 is a hilarious, high-energy musical for all ages about discovering that cool is where you find it, and sometimes where you least expect it.

Jason Robert Brown has been hailed as “one of Broadway's smartest and most sophisticated songwriters since Stephen Sondheim” (Philadelphia Inquirer), and his “extraordinary, jubilant theater music” (Chicago Tribune) has been heard all over the world, whether in one of of his musicals or in his own incendiary live performances.  The New York Times refers to Jason as “a leading member of a new generation of composers who embody high hopes for the American musical.”  His four major musicals as composer and lyricist include: “13,” a musical written with Robert Horn and Dan Elish, which began its life in Los Angeles in 2007 and opened on Broadway in 2008; “The Last Five Years,” which was cited as one of Time Magazine’s 10 Best of 2001 and won Drama Desk Awards for Best Music and Best Lyrics; “Parade,” a musical written with Alfred Uhry and directed by Harold Prince, which premiered at Lincoln Center Theatre in 1998, and subsequently won both the Drama Desk and New York Drama Critics’ Circle Awards for Best New Musical, as well as garnering Jason the Tony Award for Original Score; and “Songs for a New World,” a theatrical song cycle directed by Daisy Prince, which played Off-Broadway in 1995, and has since been seen in hundreds of productions around the world.
