A Christmas Carol Auditions

On Sunday, October 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ACT will hold auditions for the youth actor roles in this year’s production of A Christmas Carol, directed by Emily Penick and featuring Timothy McCuen Piggee and Peter Crook alternating in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge.

Callbacks will be held on Monday, October 9, from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

Rehearsals begin on November 6th for performances November 24th through December 28th.    Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are days off, but there are performances on Christmas Eve at 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm.

Auditions will be held at ACT, 700 Union Street (corner of Seventh Avenue behind the Convention Center).

Children of all ethnicities and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to audition for seven youth actor roles available.  We are looking for 3-4 boys and 3-4 girls (depending on whether Tiny Tim is cast with a boy or a girl) between the ages of 6 and 16.
 
Specific casting requirements include:
¥    Male, African American, age 9-16, to play a Cratchit family child and also alternating performances as Young Scrooge
 
YOUTH ACTOR ROLES (age ranges approximate)
MARTHA CRATCHIT-- Age 11-16.  Eldest Cratchit daughter
PETER CRATCHIT --  Age 11-16.  Eldest Cratchit son (doubles at alternate performances as Young Scrooge).
CHARLES CRATCHIT -- Age 9-12.  Middle Cratchit boy.  (doubles at alternate performances as Young Scrooge).
BELINDA CRATCHIT -- Age 9-13.  Middle Cratchit girl. (Possible double:  Fan).
ELIZABETH CRATCHIT -- Age 6-10.  Youngest Cratchit girl.  (Possible double: Fan.)
TINY TIM -- Age 6-10.  Youngest Cratchit.  Ideally under 4’2” and less than 60 lbs.
[May be played by a young girl and doubled with Fan.]
YOUNG SCROOGE -- Age 9-14.  Plays Scrooge both as a child and as an adolescent.
 FAN -- Age 6-11.  Scrooge’s younger sister. 
TURKEY BOY/UNDERTAKER’S ASSISTANT – Age 9-16.  Savvy street kid and jack of all trades,Artful Dodger type.”
 
Please prepare a short poem or monologue (less than 1 minute) to recite from memory AND a brief song to be performed a cappella.  Please bring a picture & resume and be prepared to stay at least an hour, accompanied by an adult the entire time. If you can’t make your scheduled audition time, please let us know you need to cancel.

All children will be contacted about the results of the auditions. We will begin taking appointments for the Youth Actor Auditions on Monday, September 18th, and continue until the day of the auditions.

General Auditions

ACT holds a yearly general audition for Equity actors, usually some time between December 1 and February 28. Audition appointments are made in advance on a first-come, first-served basis to Equity members, and there may be remaining slots available for Non-Equity actors. Auditions are announced through Actors’ Equity Association and Theatre Puget Sound, as well as here on ACT’s website. Equity members from outside Seattle who are visiting the city may request an individual audition at the theatre by contacting ACT’s casting office in advance.

2017 SEASON: General Auditions for Equity Actors 
10:00am–1:30pm and 2:30pm–6:00pm. 
Friday, February 10, 2017

ACT Theatre will hold one (1) day of Equity Principal Auditions for local actors on Friday, February 10, from 10:00am–1:30pm and from 2:30pm–6:00pm. Representative for the theatre will be Margaret Layne, Director of Casting. 

Please prepare two short, contrasting monologues: either one classical/one contemporary, or two contrasting contemporary pieces. Song welcome but optional. An accompanist will be provided. Total presentation not to exceed three (3) minutes.

Appointments for the 2017 EPAs can be made starting on Monday, January 30, and at any time thereafter. To schedule an audition, please sign up in advance at the ACT Box Office Lobby, 700 Union Street, Seattle, weekdays between 12:00pm and 5:00pm.  Headshots and resumes should be brought in on the day of the auditions, along with AEA membership card or proof of EMC status.

Wait Lists will be maintained for (a) EMC Candidates and (b) non-union actors; Wait List sign up sheets will also be available at the ACT Box Office Lobby. Wait List applicants will be notified of appointments as they may be available when all AEA members have been accommodated, but no later than Wednesday, February 8, 2017.

Production Casting
ACT invites individual actors to read for roles in specific productions. These auditions are held as needed throughout the year on an invitation-only basis, but local actors are encouraged to express their interest in being seen for particular projects.
